Welp we got 3-6 inches of snow today. Decided to be proactive and go clean my car off before I go to bed so that I don't have to do it in the morning. Glad I did too because there was a ton of snow on it. Lots and lots... Took a good 10 mins to clear off.

Welp we got enough for them to cancel school yesterday. Which means after this coming Monday we have exactly 0 days off until the end of the year. Certainly hope the students enjoyed yesterday, cause they are gonna be complaining up a storm when we get towards May.

geez...a few paulty inches of snow and they cancel school....when I was a kid there had to be a full blown blizzard to get a day off (had a few of them at that time too), heck I remember when I was doing my student teaching and we had about a foot of snow and STILL school was not called! (I had to walk to school since my car couldnt make it thru the snow)
how times have changed...much tooo soft on kids now.

I agree, we are too soft. I am in a rural district, so lots and lots of side roads. Plus the plows out here don't seem to plow 24/7 when it snows. They apparently still maintain a 9-5 work schedule or something...

all the more reason to not cancel classes. MOST rural people have 4-wheel drive (or tractors

) so they can drive their kiddies to school.

and yeah, sounds like our snow shovelers here---if it snows at the right time the snow will get removed, if it snows late or really early in the am--plan to move it yourself. (we only had ONE significant snowfall this year over 2", they are supposed to plow then, that was the ONLY time they didnt)

The problem with driving my kids to school in the snow is that I spend all day worrying that I might not be able to get them home again.

If I can be sure the main roads at least will be cleared it is ok because we can walk at either end.

Fortunately for me it is a nice sunny morning here today

lol snow in the uk is not snow in the usa (and I am sure that the powers that be over there are more un-equipped for its removal than ours are who are used to its annual presence.)
When I was a kid, my mom didnt drive (never did get her license), so we had to hoof it to school (and my dad had our one and only car), though the grade school was only a few blocks away so no biggie (though they do bus kids from that distance now).

with possibly 50 (ok 49) by saturday!

It is supposed to be almost 50 here. Was 39 this morning or rather earlier this morning so I went on a run. Did 1.52 miles in 15 mins. Sounds good and is decent considering how hilly the route was, but I am way off where I was about 5 months ago... Time to try to get back in shape.

do some extra for me...I have gained about 5lbs over the winter (and no signs of losing it), I cant do running--bad knees, bad back and shortness of breath all make for a very unhappy me. I would like to get a rowing machine, but alas, I have no place to put it

opened the balcony door--wee bit chilly, but nice to have the sun on my face and not freeze!

I have luckily maintained my weight through the winter. Thank goodness for that. Though I'm really glad I ran today. Went out to lunch at a burger place with some friends then meet my parents and fiancee at Applebee's for dinner. I didn't eat much at Applebee's though, since I had a late lunch and early dinner.

58 was the high today. Awesome!

but it was still nice to be warmer again. Wish I had not gained (last time I did the exercise thing I gained, last diet--gained, seems its all I can do...perhaps I have some kind of illness, lol)

applebee's...not one of my favs either (and I dont eat hamburgers either). sounds like you had a busy day

Bummer on not reaching 50. We are supposed to reach it again today. My sister is supposed to come out to play tennis with me today actually so that should be fun.

I gained a lot last year cause I was inactive. Now I make an effort effort each day at work to be up and moving around as much as possible. So that has helped. I don't sit in my chair much at all except for test days really.

Applebee's isn't my favorite but I do like it. Though the wings last night didn't taste as good as they usually do.

its might get to 50 today--will be really nice to have it warm again.

yeah, I sit too much, didnt sit much when I was teaching, unless I didnt have a class--always had to stand in the classes and usually my classes were on the 3rd or 4th floor (and no such thing as an elevator), with the teachers room on the first floor--so I did a LOT of walking back then (STILL managed to gain a good chunk of weight too

).
been on my behind since I got back---minus a few temp jobs and helping my mom out in florida.....cant believe 10 years ago I was getting ready to go and live in japan, about this time I had found out I had been picked and was waiting to find out where I would be going.....was very exciting back then, now, not so much----

Ya just a little over 2 months. About 2 and a half.

Even when I'm on my prep I'm usually up moving around a lot getting stuff done, making copies, etc. So ya, not much sitting at all.

had fun driving today.
was on a 4 lane road (2 each way) and our side has construction coming up (yep its construction season yet again)...so the person behind me, changes lanes into the lane that is closing up ahead, tries (badly) to speed up and pass me and the car in front of me---neither of us let them in, the construction is just about over and my turn (left) is coming up, the person (girl early 20's-ish) is now behind me...I put my indicator on to go into the left lane, they speed up and try yet again to pass me and merge into my lane (turn lane) while I am in it--the light is red...they slide up beside me (in my lane--so yeah we are now BOTH in the same lane 2 cars next to each other) and start yelling things about how I should learn to drive (uhm, last time I checked the person in the thru lane has the right of way and the person in the merge lane has to wait for an opening and SIGNAL their intent, not just force their way in).....is there just something going on with kids now a days that they think that they are entitled to be first all the time???
I did not let them in, the light changed and I was able to get past them and we all merged onto the freeway--at which point they lagged soooo far behind I never saw them again (I was doing the new speed limit--not the posted one

It just amazes me that that kind of attitude is even allowed----
I just dont get it, hubby (who was with me at the time) says its the 'me' generation, or we are just getting way too old

(he also mentions that this attitude is prevalent at his office--peeps just come to work and expect to be paid for the mere presence /sigh)
